Intra-club Cup Competitions

In recent years the club has run two internal cup competitions, the Challenge Cup and the Doubles Cup.

The singles Challenge Cup was originally used by members of the old club that used to be located in Waterhouses and was donated by its last winner, Alan Carr, for use by the new club in 2013.

Alan and his wife Jean subsequently donated a second, doubles, cup for use from 2014.

Each year the draw is made from a list of members who wish to take part, with pairings in the doubles also being random.

The 2018 winner of the Challenge Cup was Roy Sandall who beat the previous year’s runner-up, Gordon Kneller, in the final.

Roy also won the doubles final with teammate Reg Coates, beating
newcomer Tony Oakden and Keith Mosley.

No competitions took place in 2019, 2020 or 2021.  It is hoped that the competitions will resume in 2022.
